Norm Gamble

 

Norm was born and raised in Mount Forest and Walkerton in Southern Ontario. Norm attended Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology at Brock University and received a diploma in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario.

 

Norm started with the new City of Cambridge in January of 1973 as Sports Program Coordinator. He then held various positions until he obtained the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the County of Grey in September of 1990.

 

Norm was elected to the Society of Directors of Municipal Recreation of Ontario as President in 1980. He was a 10 year board of Directors member for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, including Secretary and Treasurer in 1985, Executive member of the Ontario Municipal Administrators’ Association since 1997 and was elected President in May 2000.  Norm was appointed to the Province of Ontario Crombie “Who Does What” process in 1996.


In 2003, the Province of Ontario appointed him to the South West Ontario Smart Growth Panel. In August 2000, the Association of Municipalities of Ontario honoured Norm by appointing him to the exclusive Lifetime Achievement Honour Roll of the Association, one of very few appointed officials to be so recognized.

 

Norm retired in May of 2005 from Municipal Administration and was shortly thereafter appointed by the Provincial Government as the founding Chair and President of the Southwest Ontario Local Health Integration Network. He continues to act as Meeting Investigator for a number of Municipalities.

 

As of summer of 2010 Gamble continues to make himself available for selective research, consulting and facilitation opportunities while enjoying the fruits of semi retirement.
