Edward Ozog (B.A., M.A., B.A. (Econ.), CHRP) is a career human resources professional with over a quarter century’s experience in H.R. management in a wide range of work environments, both private and public sector, unionized and union free.
His interest in the profession began while still a university student, with work terms at Ontario Hydro (Toronto) and Gulf Canada Resources (Calgary), where in 1983 he worked on a major corporate restructuring in response to Canada’s National Energy Programme. That experience led to his first full-time role, again involving business restructuring, with Firestone (Hamilton and Montreal).
Ed subsequently transferred to the high technology sector, where he moved through a series of specialist roles at NCR (Waterloo), Motorola (Brampton) and Reuters ( Toronto), eventually becoming the H.R. lead for the Canadian subsidiary.
Since 1996, he has worked primarily in Ontario’ s hospital sector, having held the senior H.R. and Organizational Development role (C.H.R.O.) at three of Ontario’s larger hospitals: North York General Hospital, Kingston General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Health Centre (Toronto), during a period of unprecedented change in the healthcare industry. While at K.G.H, his team achieved the highest benchmark scores for “Management and Support of Human Resources” and “Healthy Work Environment” of any Ontario hospital.
Now semi-retired, Ed divides his time between his farm in Brant County (where he grows roses), taking on interim executive placements and consulting assignments on a case by case basis. As an authority on Canadian roses, Ed has spoken on a number of occasions at Canada Blooms, the Royal Botanical Gardens, Toronto Botanical Gardens, as well as at various horticultural society meetings throughout the province. |
